Pamela Reid received her Ph.D. in Psychology with a specialization in animal learning and behavior from the University of Toronto. She established a successful behavior practice, Animal Behaviour Services, Inc., in Toronto, Canada and was on the faculty of the University of Guelph. Pam has held the post of Vice President, ASPCA Animal Behavior Center, since 2001. She is also an adjunct professor with Veterinary Medicine, University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. Pam lectures on animal behavior, learning theory, and agility training throughout the United States, Canada, England and Japan. In addition to her scholarly works (including chapters in Readings in Companion Animal Behavior, Shelter Medicine for Veterinarians and Staff, and Mental Health and Well-Being in Animals), Pam’s writings appeared regularly in Dogs in Canada from 1997-2002 (Dog Writers Association of America award for Best Column), and now in Clean Run. She authored the acclaimed book Excel-erated Learning! Explaining (in plain English) how Dogs Learn and how Best to Teach them (James & Kenneth Publishers, 1996). Pam has served on committees for the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, Delta Society, American Humane Association, and the Humane Society of the United States on topics relating to canine learning and training. She was a member of the development team for PETsMART’s 2000 instructor training program. She has served on the ABS Board of Professional Certification and was a special consultant to the Certification Council for Pet Dog Trainers. Pam is also a successful dog trainer. Her Saluki and Border Collie/Terrier have both earned USDAA titles. Her Saluki also has an Obedience title and a Flyball Championship. Services: |
