Dr. Ha received a Master's degree in biology from Wake Forest University in 1983 and a Ph.D. in zoology, with a specialization in animal behavior, from Colorado State University (CSU) in 1989. At CSU, Dr. Ha worked with Dr. Philip Lehner and saw behavior consulting cases in Colorado.

He is currently a Research Associate Professor in Psychology (Animal Behavior Program) at the University of Washington and has been part of the program since 1992. He served in various positions as a member of the Animal Behavior Society's Executive Committee for 12 years.

Dr. Ha works with behavior problems in dogs and cats including aggression, separation anxiety, and inappropriate urination. He also works with bird behavior problems. His basic procedures involve 1 1/2 to 2 hours. The result of this visit is the development of a treatment plan for the behavior(s) which fits into the owner's lifestyle. Following the visit, he provides a follow-up report which reiterates the plan developed during the visit, as well as possible additional options. Companion Animal Solutions also makes available day training for behavioral issues, follow-up appointments for behavioral modification adjustment, and group behavior classes.
